The Deer Lakes Jazz Ensemble is an audition-based group consisting of students in 9th through 12th grade and is Deer Lakes' premier instrumental ensemble.  The Jazz Ensemble performs annually at both the Holiday Jazz Dinner in December and the Evening of Jazz in the spring.  The Jazz Ensemble is also featured at the annual Fine Arts Nite in May.  Selected members are also given the opportunity to perform outside of the district by way of the Alle-Kiski Valley (AKV) Jazz Festival as well as other professional engagements which vary from year to year. 

The Jazz Ensemble travels along with the Symphonic Band on all adjudication festivals including any and all trips in or out-of-state.    ​
