The Deer Lakes Symphonic Band consists of students in grades 9-12 and rehearses five days a week. This is a performance-based ensemble with a formal Mid-Winter Concert in January and a Spring Concert in May. In addition to the two formal performances, this ensemble also grants students the opportunity to participate in a number of honors band festivals including the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) festivals and the Alle-Kiski Valley (AKV) festivals. Members of the Symphonic Band have also been active in the community, providing entertainment for public functions including the Senior Citizen Holiday Luncheon, the annual Veteran's Day Assembly as well as the Deer Lakes Graduation Ceremony.
The Deer Lakes Symphonic Band travels annually to participate in adjudication festivals hosted by PMEA as well as Music in the Parks. They band has traveled to locations like Hersheypark in Hershey, PA, Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH and Universal Studios, in Orlando, FL and Busch Gardens in Tampa, FL. |
